The SBU detained a GRU agent who was coordinating Russian strikes in the Slovyansk area
The SBU’s counterintelligence unit detained a Russian military intelligence agent in the Donetsk region who was guiding guided aerial bombs and strike drones in the Sloviansk area.

The investigation revealed that the spotter was a resident of a frontline village who had been recruited by the enemy and was evading mobilization. He came to the attention of Russian intelligence due to anti-Ukrainian comments he posted in Telegram chat rooms, while rarely leaving his home.
After being recruited, the suspect began subtly questioning his wife about the locations where Ukrainian soldiers were concentrated—places she might have seen while in Sloviansk and neighboring areas. He stored the collected data on his smartphone as approximate markers on Google Maps for later reporting to the Russians.
It was established that the agent was in contact with the Russian GRU through a liaison officer from the Joint Strategic Command of the Moscow Military District. They used a popular messaging app with anonymous accounts to communicate.
SBU officers exposed the agent in the early stages of his work for the GRU, documented his espionage activities, and detained him at his place of residence. A mobile phone and a tablet containing evidence of his work for the enemy were seized from the suspect.
SBU investigators notified him that he is suspected of violating Part 2 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law). The suspect is being held in custody without the right to bail. He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.

Earlier, in the Kyiv region, the SBU thwarted a contract killing of a well-known public figure, which, according to the investigation, was organized by the Russian special services. A 19-year-old resident of Mykolaiv was detained while preparing for the crime.
In Kropyvnytskyi, the Security Service of Ukraine detained a local resident suspected of collaborating with the FSB and coordinating Russian missile and drone attacks on fuel, energy, and logistics infrastructure. During his arrest, two hunting knives were seized from the man, which, according to the investigation, he carried with him to potentially resist law enforcement officers.
Earlier, the SBU exposed and detained a Russian agent in Kharkiv who was assisting the enemy in targeting Defense Forces facilities. The detainee was accused of directing Russian attacks on the city’s military facilities.
