Sibiga called for tougher sanctions against Russia's military-industrial complex following the attack on the Odesa region
On September 12, Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga responded to the Russian attack on Odesa and the surrounding region. He called on partners to strengthen sanctions against Russia’s military-industrial complex, stating that Russia continues to terrorize the civilian population.
“Russia continues its terror against the civilian population. Overnight, Odesa and the surrounding areas were subjected to a massive strike involving ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as combat drones,” Sibiga emphasized.
The minister noted that a residential building sustained serious damage during the attack, resulting in civilian casualties.
The Ukrainian Foreign Minister called on all partners to strengthen Ukraine’s air defense with additional systems and interceptors, as well as to impose tough sanctions against the Russian military-industrial complex.
“Russian terrorists must be deprived of the ability to produce these instruments of terror,” Sibiga stressed.
As a reminder, overnight, the Russians fired Kalibr missiles at a high-rise building in Odesa.
In the Black Sea near Odesa, two sailors from Azerbaijan were killed on September 9 as a result of a drone attack on the Somali-flagged tugboat TEDY.
In Odesa, a Russian attack on September 10 damaged the warehouse buildings of a volunteer organization where humanitarian aid and essential supplies were stored.
