Defense forces struck a Russian boat in Sevastopol
Ukrainian defense forces struck the Russian high-speed patrol boat “Mangust” in Kozachya Bay in the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol. Ammunition depots and drone storage facilities, as well as certain Russian intelligence and military infrastructure sites, were also targeted.
In Kozachya Bay in the temporarily occupied city of Sevastopol, the Ukrainian military struck the Project 12150 high-speed patrol boat “Mangust.” The General Staff reported that the boat was hit during operations by the Defense Forces on September 8 and during the night of September 9. The exact extent of the damage to the vessel is currently being assessed. “In Kozachya Bay in Sevastopol, the Defense Forces struck a Project 12150 high-speed patrol boat, the ‘Mangust,’” the General Staff’s statement reads.
The “Mangust” is a Russian high-speed patrol boat. It is used for patrolling, guarding maritime areas, and countering small vessels. The boat is approximately 20 meters long. It can reach speeds of up to 50 knots, or over 90 km/h. The vessel’s crew consists of up to six people. Project 12150 was developed for Russian security forces. Such boats can be used for patrolling and monitoring waterways.
A drone launch site was struck in Donetsk
At the same time, Ukrainian forces targeted other objectives in the occupied territories. In the area of temporarily occupied Donetsk, a site where Russian military personnel stored, prepared for use, and launched attack drones was struck. Such facilities are of critical importance to Russian units, as this is where drones undergo training prior to combat deployment.
Separately, the Defense Forces struck a drone depot in Dokuchaevsk, Donetsk Oblast. Another strike targeted Fashchivka in Luhansk Oblast, where an ammunition depot belonging to the “Rubicon” unit was destroyed. In Selidovo, Donetsk Oblast, Ukrainian forces also struck an ammunition depot. The General Staff noted that the extent of damage to all these targets is currently being assessed.
Russian reconnaissance systems were targeted
The Ukrainian military also struck Russian reconnaissance assets in the temporarily occupied Crimea. In Olenivka, a radio-electronic reconnaissance antenna complex was hit. Such systems are used to gather information on the operation of various radio-electronic devices. In Vitino, the Defense Forces struck an antenna in the radio-transparent dome of a separate command-and-measurement complex.
These facilities are part of the Russian military infrastructure on the occupied peninsula. Their destruction may affect the operation of the corresponding systems, though the Ukrainian military has not yet reported the exact extent of the consequences.
Ukraine continues to strike Russian military targets
The General Staff emphasized that the list of targets struck pertains to operations on September 8 and the night of September 9. Several types of military facilities were struck. Among them were a maritime patrol boat, storage and launch sites for attack drones, ammunition depots, and Russian reconnaissance complexes.
However, the General Staff has not yet reported the full extent of the damage. Information regarding the results of the strikes is being clarified. The destruction of such facilities is intended to weaken the capabilities of Russian forces in the occupied territories and reduce their ability to use equipment, ammunition, and drones against Ukraine.
The Ukrainian military regularly strikes Russian military infrastructure in occupied Crimea and in the seized territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. This time, the targets included the Russian high-speed boat “Mangust” in Sevastopol. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on the results of the operation on September 9.
As of 1:17 p.m., there were nine casualties in the capital as a result of the morning attacks, the mayor noted.
On the evening of September 8, Russian troops struck Mykolaiv. The attack damaged the “Metro” hypermarket—windows were shattered and the roof was damaged.
In the Darnytskyi district of Kyiv, a Russian strike drone hit a 16-story residential building. Information about possible casualties is currently being verified.
Since the evening of September 8, Russian troops have shelled four districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region more than 20 times. The occupiers used drones in the attacks, and three people were injured as a result of the strikes.
As a reminder, fires broke out at industrial facilities in the Kyiv region due to an attack by the Russian Federation.
Russia also launched a massive attack on Kyiv, killing and wounding civilians.
