Defense forces struck Russian military targets in Crimea

On the night of August 23, the Ukrainian military struck several key Russian military targets in occupied Crimea. Among them were a radar station, a storage and launch facility for unmanned surface vessels, and a relay station for controlling attack drones.

 

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on the results of the strikes. According to the General Staff, the attacks on Russian military targets took place on August 22 and during the night of August 23. “On August 22 and during the night of August 23, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of enemy military targets,” the statement said.

One of the main strikes targeted Chornomorske in the temporarily occupied Crimea. There, the Ukrainian military struck a location where the Russians were storing and launching unmanned surface vessels. A ground-based relay station was also struck there. The Russian military used it to control “Geran” and “Gerbera” attack drones.

A Russian radar station was hit

Another target was the “ST-68” radar station in Yevpatoria. In addition, Ukrainian forces struck Russian warehouses containing logistical supplies. One of them is located in Dzhankoy in Crimea, and another in Chaiky in Russia’s Belgorod Oblast.

According to the General Staff, Russian military repair units in the Dzhankoy area and in the temporarily occupied town of Kadiivka in the Luhansk region were also struck.

The results of the strikes are still being assessed

Currently, Ukrainian authorities are determining the exact extent of damage to Russian targets. “The extent of the damage and the results of the strikes are being clarified,” the General Staff reported.

The General Staff emphasized that the Ukrainian military continues to target key military objectives of the Russian army. Thus, during the latest strikes, the Ukrainian Defense Forces focused not only on warehouses and repair bases but also on facilities that Russia uses for reconnaissance, drone control, and the deployment of maritime drones. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported this on Facebook.

The Ukrainian military struck a Russian launcher of the “Iskander” missile system, which was located near the Ukrainian border. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the successful operation and stated that the Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting a separate program to locate and destroy Russian systems used to launch ballistic missiles.

The Ukrainian Defense Forces confirmed the destruction of a Russian Su-24M aircraft at the Saki airfield in the temporarily occupied Crimea. The strike against Russian military equipment took place on August 20; other enemy military equipment was also destroyed.

In Orenburg, drones attacked the logistics complex of the OZON marketplace. After debris fell onto the warehouse grounds, a fire broke out, and the company evacuated more than 300 employees and temporarily suspended the acceptance of deliveries.

Starting on the evening of August 22, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 127 strike drones. Air defense forces neutralized 97 of them, but 27 drones were recorded as having struck 22 locations.

Over the past day, the Russian army lost another 1,310 soldiers in the war against Ukraine. Ukrainian forces also destroyed one Russian aircraft, 26 armored combat vehicles, 69 artillery systems, and nearly 2,000 drones.

Over the past day, on August 22, there were 254 clashes between Ukrainian and Russian forces on the front lines. The highest number of attacks was recorded in the Kostiantynivka and Pokrovsk directions.
