Three Russian soldiers will stand trial for crimes against civilians in Bucha
A special investigation into three Russian servicemen has been completed in connection with crimes committed during the occupation of Bucha. According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, the commander is accused of ordering the killing of a civilian, and his two subordinates are accused of raping a woman.
Two soldiers from the 234th Airborne Assault Regiment of the 76th Airborne Assault Division of the Russian Armed Forces have been notified of charges of raping a 34-year-old woman (Part 1 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). One of them is the deputy platoon commander—a gunner—and the other is a senior mechanic-driver in the self-propelled artillery platoon.
According to the investigation, in March 2022, they took the woman to a residential property on Vokzalna Street in Bucha and, using physical force, took turns raping her.
When the victim tried to escape, one of the soldiers fired at her with aimed shots. The woman died from her injuries. An indictment against this soldier for her murder is already pending in court.
Prosecutors from the Office of the Prosecutor General have filed a separate indictment under Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine against the commander of the 5th Company of the same regiment.
It has been established that on March 5, 2022, three Russian soldiers detained a local resident in Bucha and forcibly brought him to the commander. The commander ordered his subordinates to kill the man.
Carrying out the order, one of the soldiers fired at least eight shots from an automatic weapon. The man died at the scene.
