Tusk stated that Ukraine's casualties on the front lines have risen significantly
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk stated that Ukraine is losing about 27,000 soldiers each month to deaths and injuries. According to him, this is due to a new Russian strategy involving the use of jet-powered drones.
Tusk noted that “there has been one very negative development—the Russians are deploying a new type of drone on a massive scale—jet-powered drones that travel at incomparably higher speeds and operate at high altitudes before striking their targets.”
“Recently, 27,000 people have been killed or wounded every month, and this is, unfortunately, in the saddest sense of the word, a record in this war. If this trend continues, winter in Ukraine could indeed turn out to be catastrophic,” said the Polish prime minister.
He noted that few are prepared to effectively counter them, including Poland.
Tusk also emphasized that Moscow’s goal is to destroy Ukraine’s economy and logistics on as large a scale as possible.
“For now—Ukraine’s,” the Polish prime minister stated.
According to him, continuous attacks of very high frequency and intensity are expected on six major Ukrainian cities, including the destruction of warehouses containing all types of products of paramount importance to the country’s defense, as well as railway infrastructure.
He added that, in this context, there is a real risk that drones or missiles could enter the territory of one or more NATO countries, potentially causing damage.
“But the official line will be that this is a coincidence and that there are no grounds for any corresponding action on NATO’s part,” the Polish prime minister speculated.
Regarding peace talks, Tusk stated that Russia is not ready for a ceasefire without Ukraine’s surrender: “Russia is not ready for serious negotiations on a ceasefire, let alone peace, without Ukraine’s de facto surrender.”
Tusk added that, according to the information he had received, Russia “is not interested in any serious negotiations, at least until the end of winter.” The Kremlin is convinced that winter will be “tragically critical” for Ukraine due to Russia’s plans to block supplies and border crossings and to destroy roads and railways.
