Another victim of the attack on Sumy has died in the hospital

The death toll from the Russian airstrike on Sumy has risen to five. Another 31 people were injured, including three children, and several of the injured are in serious condition.

 

Russian forces struck the city’s civilian infrastructure with guided bombs. One of the guided bombs struck near a public transportation stop and a gas station, where people were present at the time. Oleg Grigorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, reported the updated figures. “Unfortunately, a seriously injured man died in the hospital. The death toll from the Russian guided airstrike on Sumy has risen to five,” he said.

According to the head of the Regional Military Administration, a total of 30 people were injured, five of whom are in critical condition. Later, the Office of the Prosecutor General clarified that the number of casualties had risen to 31. According to preliminary data, three children are among the injured. All victims are receiving the necessary medical care. The attack occurred around 2:30 p.m. Russian forces fired three guided aerial bombs at the city.

One of the munitions struck the road surface near a public transit stop and a gas station. At that moment, civilians were present, and cars and public transit vehicles were moving through the area. Five people were killed as a result of the strike. Among the victims were three men aged 54, 58, and 66, a 13-year-old girl, and a man who died in the hospital from his injuries.

The Russian attack also caused significant damage to the city. Seven apartment buildings, four cars, a gas station, a car dealership, a restaurant, and a garage cooperative were damaged. Rescue workers, medical personnel, law enforcement officers, and other emergency services are on the scene. They are assisting the victims, clearing up the aftermath of the strike, and documenting the damage.

The Office of the Prosecutor General noted that all the circumstances of the attack are still being determined, so the data on the victims may be subject to change.

Law enforcement officials have opened a criminal investigation into yet another Russian war crime. “A pre-trial investigation is underway into the commission of war crimes that resulted in the loss of life,” the prosecutor’s office reported. Work at the scene of the tragedy is ongoing, and relevant agencies continue to deal with the aftermath of the Russian airstrike.
