In Moscow, more than 200 flights were canceled or delayed following a drone attack

Since the start of the day on October 6, more than 200 flights have been delayed or canceled at Moscow airports. These widespread disruptions to air traffic occurred amid a massive drone attack and restrictions imposed on airport operations.

The most difficult situation arose at Sheremetyevo Airport. There, schedule changes affected about 47 departing flights and nearly 106 arriving flights.

At Vnukovo, schedules were adjusted for 28 departing flights and 23 arriving flights.

At Domodedovo, the changes affected four more flights.

Due to widespread delays, airlines are forced to adjust their schedules. Passengers are advised to check the status of their flight in advance before traveling to the airport.

Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that from the evening of October 5 to the morning of October 6, more than 650 drones were reportedly flying toward the Moscow region.

According to him, Russian air defenses allegedly shot down most of them at a distance, while another 105 drones were intercepted as they approached Moscow.

Later, Sobyanin announced that another 68 drones had been intercepted.

In the wake of the attack, Moscow’s airports imposed restrictions on aircraft takeoffs and landings, which caused significant disruptions to air travel.

On the night of October 5, following the drone attack in the Moscow region, a fire broke out at the Volodarskaya oil depot.

According to local residents, the fire engulfed at least two fuel tanks.

“Volodarskaya” is one of the largest oil depots in the Moscow region. It is connected to the major airports of the Moscow aviation hub and supplies them with aviation fuel.

Consequently, the massive drone attack caused widespread disruptions at Moscow’s airports, where more than 200 flights were delayed or canceled on October 6.

This is according to reports from Russian media outlets.

Moscow and the Moscow Region were targeted by drones. Sergei Sobyanin, the mayor of the Russian capital, stated that at least 28 drones heading toward Moscow were shot down; there are also reports of damage to an oil depot.

In Sumy, a Russian FPV drone damaged three cars.
