The Foreign Ministry stated that North Korean missile launchers in Russia will be targeted
On August 5, the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that if North Korean missile units were deployed on Russian territory, they would be considered legitimate military targets. Kyiv emphasizes that any use of DPRK military resources to support Russian aggression will have corresponding consequences.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga made this statement during a briefing.
Sybiga emphasized that this involves not only diplomatic measures but also specific actions against the DPRK’s missile units.
“These systems, if deployed, must be destroyed. They immediately become legitimate military targets, so our military will respond accordingly,” the minister said.
According to Sibiga, when the Main Intelligence Directorate releases such information, it is usually confirmed. The diplomat noted that Kyiv has observed increased cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang.
He added that such cooperation is a cause for concern, as it poses risks and threats not only to Ukraine but also to the Indo-Pacific region.
Sybiga said that Ukraine is in constant contact with its allies, particularly Japan and South Korea. For these countries, the deepening cooperation between Russia and North Korea poses real security challenges.
The minister emphasized the need to strengthen sanctions and further isolate the North Korean regime. According to him, the international community must join forces to increase pressure on the aggressor and help bring the war to an end.
As a reminder, South Korea has provided Ukraine with a new $100 million aid package.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukrainian intelligence has detected the Kremlin’s preparations for a new wave of mobilization measures this fall. According to him, Russia may also be planning to recruit another 30,000 troops from North Korea for the war against Ukraine.
Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov refused to confirm or deny reports that Russia may be bringing in another 30,000 troops from North Korea to fight in the war against Ukraine.
