NATO stated that the pace of Russian troop advances has slowed by a factor of four
The Russian army’s rate of advance in Ukraine in June 2026 had slowed by nearly four times compared to the same period last year.
A senior NATO official announced this on the sidelines of the NATO summit in Ankara.
According to him, in June, Russian troops advanced an average of 3.79 km² per day, whereas a year ago this figure was about 16 km² per day.
NATO notes that at this pace, it will be extremely difficult for Russia to achieve its objectives and meet its planned offensive deadlines. At the same time, according to the official, Vladimir Putin continues to portray every kilometer captured as a significant victory.
