In Russia, government agencies have once again shut down the entire internet

Following attempts to block enemy information resources in Russia, there has been another widespread service outage, particularly affecting government services.

According to Downdetector, websites for online movie theaters, Rostelecom, mobile operators, banks, social media platforms, and several gaming platforms are down. Specifically, Steam, Discord, Faceit, and Gosuslugi are not working. Residents of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and the Samara region are particularly affected by the outages.

A similar outage occurred in Russia on April 3; telecom experts directly linked it to the operation of equipment designed to block unwanted resources. Founder Pavel Durov stated that attempts by Russian authorities to restrict VPN usage led to a massive failure in the national payment system.

Russia ranked second-to-last in the global internet freedom index following increased censorship and blocking measures, particularly targeting the Telegram messaging app.
