Russia reported alleged attacks on ships in ports in the Odesa region

According to the Russian Defense Ministry, two dry cargo ships were hit in one of Odesa’s ports while unloading cargo that Russia claims was “for military use.” The statement also claims that tanks containing fuel and lubricants were allegedly struck; according to Russia, these were intended for the Ukrainian military.
In addition, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported alleged strikes on two bulk carriers and another dry cargo ship, which, according to its account, were delivering cargo to the port of Chornomorsk. “Two dry cargo ships were struck while unloading military cargo, as well as fuel and lubricant storage tanks,” the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
At the same time, as of the time of publication, Ukrainian authorities and military command had not confirmed the information provided by the Russian side. There is also no independent confirmation of these claims, so they should be treated with caution. Earlier, on July 19, Russia attacked the dry cargo ship GOLDEN LEO in the Black Sea, which was sailing under the flag of Guinea-Bissau and is owned by a Turkish shipowner. The ship was carrying grain. Ten people were killed as a result of the attack.
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces previously reported that, as of July 1, they had struck 183 Russian tankers in the Azov and Black Seas.
The situation in the Black Sea remains tense. Since Russia’s withdrawal from the “grain deal,” shipping in the region has been regularly accompanied by attacks, mutual statements from the parties, and limited access to independent information regarding specific incidents. That is why reports from the warring parties need to be verified by independent sources. This is being reported by Russian media.
