Defence plant reportedly attacked in Russia’s Tambov region
Explosions were reported overnight on 12 February in the town of Michurinsk, Tambov region of Russia, followed by a fire at the Progress plant.
The incident was reported by Exilenova+.
The Progress facility is described as a strategic supplier to Russia’s military-industrial complex.
The situation is considered significant, as repeated strikes could undermine Russia’s capabilities in military technology.
The Progress plant specialises in the production of precision instrument equipment used in military hardware, including aircraft, helicopters and missile systems.
Its products are reportedly used in Russian aircraft, helicopters and missile systems for navigation and automated flight control. Given the company’s close cooperation with the Russian Ministry of Defence and its role in introducing advanced technologies into military equipment, damage to Progress’s production facilities could create serious logistical and technical challenges for Russian forces.
On the same night, the Volgograd region of Russia was also reportedly targeted, with an attack on a military facility in the settlement of Kotluban.
