Ukrainian Forces deny rumors of Orikhovo-Vasylivka occupation
The Ukrainian Defense Forces (UAF) officially refuted reports claiming that the village of Orikhovo-Vasylivka in Donetsk had been fully captured, which had circulated in some media outlets.
Representatives of the Operational-Strategic Grouping “East” stated on January 26, 2026, that units of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade (30 OMBR) continue to hold positions in the area despite constant pressure and enemy assaults. The command emphasized that while the situation remains dynamic, control of the village remains with Ukrainian forces.
Orikhovo-Vasylivka, located northwest of Bakhmut, has long been a hotspot on the Kramatorsk direction. Russian forces are attempting to breach defenses here to establish a foothold for further advances toward Kostiantynivka and Sloviansk. According to the latest General Staff reports, two major combat clashes were recorded in the area over the past day, during which Ukrainian defenders destroyed a significant number of enemy personnel and armored vehicles.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian forces forced Russian occupiers to retreat from Oleksiivskyi Island in Kherson region.
Over the past week (January 19–25, 2026), the intensity of Russian offensive operations on the front reached its lowest level since spring 2025.
