Ukraine has sharply increased its use of ground robots on the front lines
The number of missions carried out by ground robotic systems (GRS) on the front lines has increased 3.3-fold since the beginning of 2026. In August alone, Ukrainian ground robots carried out more than 25,000 logistics and evacuation missions.
The Ministry of Defense notes that robotic systems are being increasingly deployed to carry out tasks on the front lines, particularly for delivering essential supplies and evacuating military personnel.
What is known about the increase in the number of missions
As of early September, DELTA had recorded approximately 112,000 logistics and evacuation missions carried out by ground-based robotic systems since the beginning of 2026. The number of such missions is increasing every month:
January – 7,511;
February – 7,960;
March – 9,072;
April – 11,028;
May – 14,059;
June – 16,664;
July – 19,940;
August – 25,143.
Thus, in the last month of summer, the number of logistics and evacuation missions carried out by the NRC exceeded the corresponding figure for January by 3.3 times.
Robots are operating in the most dangerous areas in place of humans, delivering ammunition, water, and food, as well as evacuating wounded defenders.
The growing role of ground robots on the front lines this summer was also confirmed by Ukraine’s first-ever drone parade, which took place in Kyiv on the 35th anniversary of Independence: Thirty Ukrainian-made ground-based robotic systems of six different models—TerMIT, “Rys PRO,” “Simba,” Ardal, “Zmiy,” and Ratel—paraded down Khreshchatyk Street.
