Ukraine is using British drones for long-range strikes against Russia
Over the past six months, Ukraine has begun using British drones to carry out long-range strikes on Russian territory.
According to the publication, among the drones used in these long-range attacks is the Nyan jet-powered UAV, developed by BAE Systems. Another type of British drone has not yet been disclosed for security reasons.
The Times obtained this information from sources within the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
According to one of the publication’s sources, Ukraine carries out most of its long-range strikes using domestically produced drones, but British drones are also being successfully used to attack Russian targets.
Reportedly, among the targets struck by British drones were oil refineries near Moscow, Yaroslavl, and Volgograd.
It is also noted that the Nyan jet drone was used to strike Belgorod, which is located near the Ukrainian border.
Thus, British drones have become yet another tool in Ukraine’s long-range strikes against Russia’s military and energy infrastructure. At the same time, according to sources, Ukraine continues to carry out the bulk of such operations using its own domestically developed systems.
The Kyiv Independent reports this, citing The Times.
Robert Brovdi (Madyar), commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces, stated that Ukraine may soon face an intensification of Russian missile strikes and attacks by jet-powered drones.
Earlier, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) struck 1,816 Russian military targets over the course of a day.
In addition, the 412th Separate “Nemesis” Unmanned Systems Brigade reported large-scale strikes against Russian military logistics. According to the brigade, in July alone, its troops struck and destroyed nearly 500 vehicles and about 400 motorcycles and military buggies. According to the military, the drones struck some of the targets far from the front lines—at distances of up to 200 kilometers or more.
Rosneft’s Saratov oil refinery halted oil processing following a drone attack. According to Reuters, the shutdown was caused by damage to production facilities and fires that broke out as a result of the strike.
