Ukraine lost a MiG-29 fighter jet during a combat mission in the Poltava region
On the night of June 27, 2026, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost contact with a MiG-29 fighter jet that was performing a combat mission in the sky over the Poltava region. The pilot of the aircraft managed to eject, and his condition and the circumstances of the incident are currently being clarified.
“We confirm the loss of the aircraft, however, the Ukrainian pilot successfully ejected, contacted the search and rescue team and was promptly taken to a medical facility for examination and provision of necessary assistance. The reasons and circumstances are being clarified.”
This was reported by the Communications Department of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the Kherson region, 13 people were injured as a result of Russian shelling over the past day, and more than 40 settlements in the region were hit.
In the Sumy region, ten people were injured as a result of a massive attack by Russian drones, among them a seriously injured woman with severe burns.
In Dnipropetrovsk region, a 56-year-old woman was killed and two more people, including a 13-year-old girl, were injured as a result of Russian shelling. Enemy strikes hit several districts of the region at once, causing destruction of residential buildings and infrastructure.
Russian troops launched 924 strikes on Zaporizhia region in a day. 42 settlements came under fire. According to the regional military administration, one person was killed and 29 others were injured, including three children.
