"Ukraine has already become a testing ground for modern weapons," said a general of the Armed Forces of Ukraine
Ukraine has effectively become a testing ground for modern weapons and military technologies. Going forward, these must be actively utilized to minimize casualties among personnel. This was stated at the Yalta European Strategy (YES) conference by Brigadier General Yevhen Lasiychuk of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, commander of the 7th Airborne Assault Corps.
According to the general, Ukraine must test and implement new technologies, first and foremost to save the lives of its servicemembers.
“We are on the threshold of the next step—replacing people with robots,” Lasyichuk said.
At the same time, he emphasized the importance of continued support from Ukraine’s international partners.
Lasyichuk noted that Ukraine’s international partners must prepare for a new type of war in which the area of impact is constantly expanding.
“The longest blast zone reaches 40 km, and it is expanding,” the general said.
In his view, one of the main challenges today is not only the availability of modern weapons and technologies but also the ability of military personnel to adapt quickly to changes on the battlefield.
On September 11–12, the annual Yalta European Strategy (YES) meeting, organized by the Victor Pinchuk Foundation, took place in Kyiv.
The slogan for this year’s conference was “Peace Through Strength Now.”
YES participants discussed the course of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the prospects for its conclusion, security issues in Ukraine and Europe, the development of defense technologies, economic recovery, and Ukraine’s further European integration.
The event was attended by Ukrainian and foreign politicians, government officials, military personnel, diplomats, business leaders, and experts.
Last year, the main theme of the Yalta European Strategy was “How to End the War?”

On the night of September 12–13, Russian troops attacked Ukraine with 453 strike drones of various types. Air defense forces neutralized 409 enemy targets.
On the morning of September 13, explosions were heard in the Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil regions amid a massive attack by Russian strike drones. Air defense forces were deployed in those regions.
On the night of September 12–13, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 453 attack drones of various types. Air defense forces neutralized 409 enemy targets.
On September 12, a Russian drone attacked a branch of a logistics company in the Odesa region. Two people were injured in the strike.
As a reminder, part of the Rivne region was left without electricity due to Russian shelling.
The Russians also struck a passenger train at the Lutsk train station.
Overnight, the Russians fired Kalibr missiles at a high-rise building in Odesa.
