Ukraine launched a record number of drones and missiles into Russian territory in a single day
The Ukrainian military attacked Russia with a record number of drones and missiles since the start of the war. Over the past 24 hours, according to the Russian Ministry of Defense, Russian air defense systems allegedly intercepted and destroyed 1,750 aircraft-type drones and 17 “Flamingo” cruise missiles. In addition, the Russian side reported shooting down two guided bombs and a HIMARS rocket.
The previous record for the number of Ukrainian drones launched at targets in Russia was set on August 18. At that time, 1,671 drones were reported over 15 regions of the Russian Federation, the annexed Crimea, as well as the Azov and Black Seas. Meanwhile, previously, no more than 3–6 “Flamingo” missiles were launched per day.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, 11 regions of Russia, Crimea, and targets in the Sea of Azov came under attack last night. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated on the morning of October 6 that 650 drones were flying toward the Russian capital, 105 of which, he said, were destroyed as they approached the city. He later reported that air defense systems had intercepted another 68 drones.
Andrei Vorobyov, governor of the Moscow Region, stated that 185 UAVs were destroyed overnight in 16 municipalities. According to him, two people were killed in the attack—a 20-year-old man in the village of Radumlya and a 71-year-old man in Baribino. Nine more people were injured.
In Volokolamsk, Stupino, Dmitrov, Naro-Fominsk, Serpukhov, Domodedovo, and Istra, 47 private homes were damaged. A high-rise building in the village of Lobanovo in Domodedovo was also damaged.
