A Ukrainian ballistic missile could strike the enemy for the first time as early as this fall — Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has already developed its own ballistic missile, and its first combat deployment could take place as early as this fall. At the same time, the main challenge remains establishing mass production.
According to the president, Ukrainian specialists have successfully developed a ballistic missile, but now it is necessary to ensure its mass production and reliable deployment.
“God willing, it will not only perform well in tests, but it will also be mass-produced and able to consistently hit its targets,” Zelenskyy said.
The president noted that the development of Ukraine’s missile program is taking place amid competition with major international defense companies. He said that the emergence of a new manufacturer of high-precision weapons affects commercial interests, but this does not mean that partners are opposed to Ukrainian developments.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine has to “fight tooth and nail” to secure opportunities for developing its own defense-industrial complex and build international cooperation to scale up production.
Responding to a question about the possibility of the first combat use of Ukrainian ballistic weapons as early as this fall, the president said, “We must have faith.”
