Ukrainian forces repelled over 170 enemy attacks in a single day, General Staff maps show
Over the past 24 hours, 171 combat engagements took place. Ukrainian defenders successfully held back enemy advances, inflicting significant losses and effective fire damage on Russian forces.
The enemy launched one missile strike and 70 airstrikes, dropping 200 guided bombs, deployed 9,616 kamikaze drones, and carried out 3,715 attacks on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, including 98 using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk directions: 87 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including four with MLRS. Five airstrikes were recorded, using 15 guided bombs. Four ground engagements occurred.

Southern Slobozhanshchyna direction: The enemy attempted three times to breach Ukrainian defences towards Vovchansk and Starytsia but failed.

Kupiansk direction: Nine attacks towards Petropavlivka, Kurylivka, Hlushkivka, Novoosynove, Kupiansk, and Novoplatonivka were repelled.

Lyman direction: Nine attacks aimed at breaking through near Drobysheve, Lyman, Stavky, Dibrova, and Borova were unsuccessful.

Sloviansk direction: Ukrainian forces stopped 10 enemy attempts to advance towards Yampil, Platonivka, Riznykivka, Ozerne, and Rai-Oleksandrivka.

Kramatorsk direction: The enemy attempted to improve tactical positions towards Minkivka, but Ukrainian troops held firm.

Kostiantynivka direction: 30 attacks on Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, Stepanivka, Rusyn Yar, Sofiivka, and Novopavlivka were all repelled.

Pokrovsk direction: 31 enemy advances towards Bilytske, Rodynske, Novooleksandrivka, Myrnohrad, Shevchenko, Hryshyne, Udachne, Kotlyne, Filiia, Novomykolaivka, and Novopidhorodne were stopped.

Oleksandrivka direction: Five attacks towards Danylivka and Zlahoda were repelled.

Huliaipole direction: 21 attacks targeted Zaliznychne, Myrne, Zelene, Charivne, Huliaipilske, and Varvarivka.

Orikhiv direction: No enemy attempts to improve positions were recorded.

Prydniprovski direction: No assault operations were conducted.

Ukrainian forces continue to hold the line effectively on all fronts, preventing the enemy from improving its tactical position.
Russian combat losses:
Total Russian combat losses in manpower from 24 February 2022 to 17 March 2026 are estimated at around 1,280,860 personnel. A further 930 Russian troops were killed in the past 24 hours.
Earlier, Ukraine’s Defence Forces successfully disrupted a strategic offensive operation that the enemy had planned for March 2026.
In early March, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian intelligence had obtained documents outlining Russian plans for 2026–2027. He emphasised the strategic importance of involving China in efforts to end Russia’s aggression.
