In Russia, drones attacked oil refineries in Syzran and the Krasnodar Region

On the night of August 8, drones attacked the Krasnodar Krai and the Samara Oblast in Russia. The strikes caused massive fires at two oil refineries.

These were the Syzran Oil Refinery in the Samara Region and the Ilsk Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai.

Russian Telegram channels were the first to report the attack on the Syzran Oil Refinery. According to their reports, the drones may have struck the area around the AVT unit and oil storage tanks.

“Local residents reported an attack in the area of the AVT facility and oil storage tanks, one of the channels noted.

Vyacheslav Fedoryshchev, governor of the Samara Region, confirmed the attack on the industrial facility.

“Dear residents of the Samara Region. One of the industrial facilities in the Samara Region was attacked by enemy drones last night. Cleanup efforts are currently underway. Emergency services are working at the site where the drones crashed. Information regarding casualties is being verified, the official wrote on Telegram.

Footage from the scene has also appeared online. It shows a red glow and thick black smoke rising above the refinery grounds.

Another strike hit the Ilsky Oil Refinery in the Krasnodar Krai.

The local emergency response headquarters confirmed the incident. According to the official account, drone debris fell on the plant’s grounds.

At the same time, videos posted online show a massive fire on the refinery grounds, which Russian emergency responders were reportedly trying to extinguish.

Russian oil refineries and facilities in the fuel and energy sector are regularly targeted by drone attacks.

One of the main targets of these strikes is oil refineries and gas infrastructure facilities, which play a vital role in supplying fuel to the Russian economy and military.
