In Russia, drones attacked one of the largest oil refineries in Ufa
In Bashkortostan, on the morning of August 5, a fire broke out at one of the facilities of the Ufa Oil Refinery Complex, owned by Rosneft, following a drone attack. According to reports from Russian authorities, one of the drones crashed into an industrial zone despite the operation of air defense systems.
According to monitoring channels, the fire broke out at the “Bashneft-UNPZ” facility, which, along with the “Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim” and “Bashneft-Novoyl” plants, is part of the Ufa Oil Refining Complex.
The complex’s total capacity is 23.5 million metric tons of oil per year, making it one of the largest in Russia.
According to Russian sources, the facility may have been attacked by an An-196 “Lyutiy” drone, though there is no official confirmation of this information.
The head of Bashkortostan, Radii Khabirov, reported that the region had come under a massive drone attack.
According to him, air defense forces shot down 25 drones, but one of them crashed into an industrial zone, causing a fire.
According to Russian media reports, the Bashneft petrochemical complex has been targeted for the third consecutive day.
The day before, the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim plant—the region’s largest oil refinery with a capacity of 8.2 million metric tons per year—was also struck.
Previously, this plant also reported attacks on August 1, July 8, and June 25.
According to S&P Global, at the end of July, the Ufa refinery remained one of the few Russian refineries that continued to operate at 100% capacity, despite regular attacks.
At the same time, 11 Russian oil refineries were forced to cut production by 30–70%, while seven more facilities suspended operations entirely.
Analysts estimate that in July, total oil refining volume in Russia fell to 3.6 million barrels per day, the lowest level since May 2002. Compared to the beginning of the year, fuel production has fallen by about one-third.

In addition, on the night of August 5, drones attacked the Wildberries logistics complex in Aleksin, Tula Oblast, Russia. The strike hit the company’s largest warehouse in Russia’s Central Federal District, with an area of about 300,000 square meters.
On the night of August 4, 2026, drones attacked a distribution center belonging to “Lenta,” one of Russia’s largest supermarket chains, in the Leningrad Region. A fire broke out at the facility following the strike, and operations at the receiving warehouse were temporarily suspended.
