Russia claimed to have shot down more than 700 Ukrainian drones overnight

The Russian Ministry of Defense stated that on the night of September 11, Russian air defenses allegedly intercepted and destroyed 777 Ukrainian drones.

According to the Russian ministry, the drones attacked regions of the Russian Federation, occupied Crimea, as well as areas of the Black and Caspian Seas.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that the drones were destroyed between 8:00 p.m. on September 10 and 8:00 a.m. on September 11, Moscow time.

According to the ministry’s statement, the UAVs were allegedly shot down over the territories of the Bryansk, Kursk, Belgorod, Oryol, Kaluga, Voronezh, Saratov, Rostov, and Samara regions, the Perm Krai, the Republic of Mari El, occupied Crimea, and Udmurtia, as well as over the Black and Caspian Seas.

There is currently no independent confirmation of the Russian Ministry of Defense’s claim that 777 drones were shot down.

Yuri Slyusar, governor of the Rostov region, reported that more than 90 drones and missiles were allegedly destroyed over the region during the night.

According to him, in the Millerovo District, 10 private homes and outbuildings were damaged by falling drone debris.

A dry grass fire broke out in the Tarasovsky District. Russian authorities claim there were no casualties.

At the same time, the Volgograd region is not mentioned in the Russian Ministry of Defense’s summary.

The local governor had previously reported two casualties from a missile attack, as well as damage to an apartment building and an industrial facility.

Ukrainian drones attacked the Ozon logistics center in Saratov. The company confirmed the strike, which was the first on Russian marketplace warehouses after a nearly 10-day hiatus.

Ukrainian strikes on Russian territory are undermining Vladimir Putin’s political authority, but do not pose a direct threat to his power. According to Politico, Volodymyr Zelenskyy hopes to exacerbate the Kremlin’s economic and political losses in order to compel Putin to take a diplomatic resolution to the war more seriously.
