Russia has announced the possible dismissal of Sergei Milchakov, commander of the 51st Army
Lieutenant General Sergei Milchakov, commander of Russia's 51st Combined Arms Army, was likely killed in a strike on a Russian military command post.
Milchakov may have been killed during a strike on the headquarters of the 51st Army of the Russian Federation’s Southern Military District.
Lieutenant General Sergei Milchakov commanded the 51st Combined Arms Army, which is participating in the war against Ukraine, particularly in offensive operations in the Pokrovsk-Dobropillia sector. He also holds the title of “Hero of Russia.”
According to preliminary information, Milchakov may have been killed on August 26, when the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck command posts of Russian troops in occupied Donetsk.
Russian propagandist Anastasia Kashevarova claimed that the strike was allegedly precise, and therefore, information about the headquarters’ location could have come from the Russian side.
“The enemy struck with precision, which means the leak about the location came from our own side,” Kashevarova said.
There is currently no official confirmation of Sergei Milchakov’s death.
At the same time, reports initially appeared on Russian social media claiming that it was Alexei Milchakov, not Sergei, who had been killed.
Alexei Milchakov is a Russian neo-Nazi and one of the founders and commanders of the “Rusich” sabotage, assault, and reconnaissance group, which is fighting against Ukraine.
According to Ukrainian sources, his unit was involved in crimes against military personnel and civilians in the Kharkiv and Donetsk regions, including the brutal mistreatment of prisoners of war.
Previously, Sergei Milchakov’s name also appeared in Russian investigations into possible corruption and illegal drug trafficking among military personnel.

A high-ranking Russian officer—Colonel Andriy Krestyansky—was killed in Ukraine. He served as a senior instructor and inspector at the Training Center for Command Staff of the Russian Ministry of Defense.
