Drones attacked the Bashneft oil refinery in Ufa, sparking a massive fire

On the night of April 2, a massive fire broke out at an oil refinery in the Russian city of Ufa following a drone attack.

This was reported by local Telegram channels.

According to eyewitnesses, city residents were awakened by the sounds of explosions, after which a major fire broke out in the industrial zone. Due to the threat of new drone attacks, an air raid alert was declared in the city, and operations at the local airport were temporarily suspended.

The head of Bashkortostan confirmed the attack, noting: “Several drones were shot down as they approached the oil refineries; debris from one fell in the industrial zone, and there were no casualties. Firefighters are currently extinguishing the blaze on the refinery’s grounds.”

Meanwhile, volunteer and advisor to the Ukrainian Minister of Defense Serhiy Sternenko reported that the Defense Forces may have struck the Bashneft-Novoyl oil refinery, located approximately 1,400 km from the border with Ukraine.

Preliminary reports indicate that the key AVT-5 crude oil primary processing unit caught fire. This refers to the Bashneft-UNPZ enterprise, which is part of Rosneft through the company Bashneft.

This plant is part of one of Russia’s largest oil refining hubs and processes oil from Western Siberia, Bashkir oil, and gas condensate.

As a reminder, the Russian oil refinery "Kirishinefteorgsintez" (KINEF) in the city of Kirishi, which was hit by drone attacks last week, may partially resume production within a month. This will depend on how quickly Russian ports resume operations for oil shipments.

As a reminder, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Kirishi oil refinery in the city of Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast, Russia, on the night of March 26.

The Armed Forces of Ukraine successfully struck a strategically important facility of the Russian Federation’s fuel and energy infrastructure. The target was the Bashneft-Ufaneftekhim oil refinery, located in the city of Ufa, approximately 1,400 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border.
