Ukraine has disclosed the number of medical facilities damaged or destroyed by Russia
As of September 1, 2026, 2,687 medical facilities—comprising 854 healthcare institutions—had been reported as damaged or destroyed in Ukraine. A total of 340 facilities within 127 healthcare institutions were completely destroyed as a result of Russian aggression.
The largest number of damaged and destroyed medical facilities was recorded in the Kharkiv, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Kyiv regions.
To date, 752 medical infrastructure facilities have been fully restored, and another 317 have been partially restored. At the same time, 87 facilities were damaged again after being fully restored.
Currently, medical care is being provided at 1,639 facilities, while another 187 are operating partially. Operations at 241 facilities had to be relocated.
Data on the extent of the destruction in Mariupol and other temporarily occupied territories remains incomplete due to the inability to verify the condition of the facilities.
Russian attacks have also resulted in the loss of emergency medical transport. Since the start of the full-scale war, 345 ambulances have been destroyed, another 225 have been damaged, and 80 have been seized.
At the same time, the Ministry of Health is assessing hospitals’ readiness for the 2026–2027 heating season, particularly their ability to operate during prolonged disruptions in electricity, heat, and water supply.
