Video: An occupier surrendered to the Ukrainian Armed Forces while under fire from his own forces
After six days without water and under fire from his own troops, a Russian occupier with the call sign “Joker” waited for the right moment and surrendered to soldiers of the 61st Separate Mechanized Steppe Brigade.
The Russian prisoner of war with the call sign “Joker” described the circumstances that led him to join the Russian army.
According to him, a debt of 700,000 rubles pushed him to sign the contract. At the same time, he claims that the decision to serve was not made voluntarily.
The occupier said he was forced to sign the contract through threats. At the training ground, he said, soldiers’ phones were smashed, and the command demanded money in exchange for equipment.
The prisoner also described the conditions within the Russian unit. He said that soldiers were ordered to “neutralize” those who refused orders—that is, to open fire on anyone who refused to obey commands.
In addition, “Joker” spoke of his fear of his own soldiers and a lack of basic necessities.
One of the hardest trials for him was going six days without water.
According to the Russian prisoner of war, it was precisely this combination of circumstances that led him to decide to surrender to Ukrainian forces.
“Don’t go. Under no circumstances, ever,” “Joker” urged those who are still considering signing a contract with the Russian army.
The prisoner also said that he waited until he could safely surrender to soldiers of the 61st Brigade.
The 61st Separate Mechanized Steppe Brigade shared the prisoner’s story on its social media accounts.
Earlier, a video was released online showing the surrender of Colombian mercenaries whom the Russian command had sent to storm Ukrainian positions. The foreigners, recruited into the ranks of Russia’s occupying army, surrendered to soldiers of the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade to save their lives.
Soldiers of the 24th Separate Mechanized Brigade captured three Ukrainians in Chasov Yar who had been fighting on Russia’s side. According to the brigade, they arrived from the temporarily occupied Crimea and the left bank of the Kherson region. Their fate will now be determined by the Ukrainian justice system, provided the investigation establishes that a crime has been committed.
