Video: Border Guards Destroyed the Latest Geran-5 Jet Drone
Service members of the 105th Border Guard Detachment named after Prince Volodymyr the Great shot down a Russian "Geran-5" attack drone.
Operators of attack drone systems shot down the enemy target, though the agency did not specify exactly which interception method was used. Destroying jet-powered drones is a more challenging task for air defense forces, as these aircraft reach cruising speeds of 450–600 km/h and fly significantly faster than conventional “Shaheds.”
According to military intelligence, Russia first deployed the “Geran-5” against Ukraine in early 2026. The drone, with a total weight of about 850 kg, is equipped with a Chinese turbojet engine, has a range of up to 950 km, and is capable of carrying a warhead weighing about 90 kg.

Earlier, the military demonstrated the downing of a Geran-5 using the new STING interceptor.
The Ukrainian MilTech company “Dyki Shershni” delivered 200 interceptor drones to the Defense Forces for a total of 17.6 million hryvnias.
