Video: Russia dropped an aerial bomb on Kramatorsk, destroying a church and several high-rise buildings
On the evening of September 22, Russian troops dropped an aerial bomb on a residential area in Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast. As a result of the strike, the Church of St. John the Baptist sustained significant damage, and 10 apartment buildings and a car were damaged.
After the attack, photos and videos of the damage near the Church of St. John the Baptist began circulating online.
The published images show severe damage to the building’s walls, roof, and dome. According to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the building’s metal frame was deformed by the blast wave, and the surrounding area was littered with debris.
Local volunteer Bohdan Zuyakov stated that the strike hit the church directly.
“Unfortunately, there are wounded… First-aid skills are being honed to the maximum every day,” the eyewitness said.
According to the State Emergency Service in the Donetsk region, two people were injured as a result of the Russian airstrike.
A Russian aerial bomb struck a residential area in Kramatorsk. The attack damaged:
- 10 apartment buildings;
- a church building;
- a passenger car.
Rescue workers surveyed the area and provided assistance to the victims.
After the strike, fires broke out simultaneously in three apartments of a 14-story building—on the 7th, 10th, and 14th floors.
“The total area affected by the fire was approximately 60 square meters. While extinguishing the fire, rescue workers evacuated two people to fresh air; they had been unable to leave the building on their own due to heavy smoke,” the State Emergency Service reported.
The fire was successfully extinguished, and rescue workers continued to address the aftermath of the Russian strike.
The Russian attack on a residential area of Kramatorsk resulted in damage to civilian infrastructure and a church, as well as injuries to people.
The Ukrainian Orthodox Church and the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported on the consequences of the attack.

On the morning of September 23 in Kyiv, a Russian attack triggered large-scale fires at civilian facilities. In particular, the “Shayba” market near the train station, where “Velyka Kyshenya” previously operated, is on fire.
Eight people were injured in Kyiv as a result of the Russian attack on September 23. One of the injured, who was hospitalized in critical condition, died in the hospital, Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported.
On the night of September 23, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 161 strike drones of various types. Among them were 82 jet-powered UAVs. As of 8:00 a.m., air defense forces had destroyed or neutralized 119 enemy drones and three additional “Banderole”/“Dan-T” drones.
Since the evening of September 22, Russian troops have attacked two districts in the Dnipropetrovsk region more than 10 times. The occupiers used drones and dropped aerial bombs; one person was injured as a result of the attacks.
We should add that drones attacked the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions overnight.
As a reminder, Russia struck Kharkiv on the night of September 23, resulting in one fatality.
