Ukrainian Navy says it destroyed a Russian naval drone in the Black Sea — Jerusalem Post
The Ukrainian Navy said that its Sargan-3000 unmanned surface vehicle destroyed a Russian naval drone in the Black Sea. The Navy called the episode the first naval clash in history between two unmanned boats.
As the Jerusalem Post reports, the target was initially detected by units of the Main Intelligence Directorate. After that, the Sargan-3000, equipped with a 12.7 mm Kongsberg Protector remotely controlled weapon module, approached the Russian vehicle and opened fire.
Video of the clash
The Ukrainian Navy released an 81-second video of the clash, featuring footage from onboard cameras and filming from an unidentified observation platform. According to the publication’s description, the recording shows the Ukrainian drone tracking the target, firing machine-gun bursts, and fragments breaking away from the hull of the Russian vehicle. Eventually, the Russian vehicle sinks.

The Navy did not specify the exact time and location of the clash. The initial report also did not name the type of Russian vehicle. At the same time, the publication notes that it was reportedly an Orcan-type unmanned boat, which the Russian Federation — an aggressor state — uses to attack Ukrainian ports and naval vessels.
Ukrainian naval drones
Ukraine has used unmanned surface vehicles against the Russian Federation’s Black Sea Fleet since 2022. Among the platforms operated by various Ukrainian agencies, the publication names Sea Baby, Magura, and Sargan-3000.
Sea Baby is used by the Security Service of Ukraine, primarily for strikes on vessels in ports. Magura vehicles belong to the Main Intelligence Directorate and are intended for attacks on warships at sea; later versions received air-to-air missiles. The Sargan-3000 is operated by the Ukrainian Navy and has a low-profile hull, waterjet propulsion, and modular payload options.
