Enemy uses heavy bombers on the Kostiantynivka axis
Russian forces on the Kostiantynivka axis are operating in small assault groups and have begun using heavy bombers on a limited basis, the 44th Separate Mechanized Brigade reports. Ukrainian units continue to monitor and repel enemy attacks.
This was stated on Army TV by Viacheslav Shutenko, commander of the unmanned systems battalion “Legion North” of the 44th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
“We are holding the defense. The autumn–winter period has made certain adjustments to operations—the weather has worsened, which creates additional challenges. Nevertheless, we continue to detect and destroy the enemy,” Shutenko said.
He noted that the enemy operates in small groups, attempting to infiltrate and bypass Ukrainian infantry positions by exploiting difficult weather conditions.
“Currently, a vast ‘gray zone’ has been created in our area of responsibility, where the enemy is immediately destroyed as soon as they appear,” the commander said.
Enemy tactics and use of drones
Enemy assault groups often use camouflage suits with thermal masking effects, making them harder to detect at night. At the same time, according to Shutenko, experienced UAV operators are still able to identify enemy signatures, after which strikes are carried out.
The commander also reported isolated cases of the enemy using heavy drones.
“So far, we can state that in this direction the enemy is at an early technological stage of development. Our heavy bombers are used much more effectively. However, the very fact of their appearance on the enemy’s side is already an alarming signal. For the most part, they use them to solve logistical tasks,” he added.
Over the past day, 229 combat engagements took place along the front, with the Huliaipole axis being the hottest.
Overall, 98 combat clashes were recorded, with the Pokrovsk and Kostiantynivka directions remaining the most intense.
Additionally, Ukrainian forces captured two Colombians near Pokrovsk who were fighting for Russia.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces also eliminated a Siberian basketball champion on the front line.
