Wildberries Hid, but Did Not Stop, Sales of Goods for the Russian Armed Forces — CPD
The Russian marketplace Wildberries has not stopped selling products that could be used by the Russian military, despite public outcry. According to the Center for Countering Disinformation, the company has merely changed how these items are displayed on the website, making them less visible to users.
According to the Center, a separate tag labeled “Everything for ‘Our Guys’”—under which military goods were previously grouped—has disappeared from the marketplace’s catalog. However, the items themselves have not gone anywhere—they have simply been distributed across the site’s regular sections.
“The marketplace did not remove military goods from the site, but merely attempted to make them less visible. The ‘Everything for “Our Own”’ tag has disappeared from the catalog, but the products themselves remain: they’ve simply been distributed across regular categories,” reads a post on the CPD’s Telegram channel.
In particular, body armor and helmets are now sold in the “Sports” section, while FPV drones and their accessories are listed among household and other electronics. Using the relevant search terms on the site, you can still find:
- military first-aid kits;
- walkie-talkies;
- tactical backpacks;
- insignia;
- flags.
The Center for Political Analysis emphasized that the company’s behavior indicates a deliberate continuation of its cooperation with Russia’s military machine.
“This tactic of pulling the wool over people’s eyes shows that Wildberries is not giving up its support for the Russian military machine,” the Center stated.
The agency added that Wildberries’ warehouses effectively serve as military facilities—which is precisely why the company’s logistics centers are regularly targeted. According to the 1st Separate Center of the Security Service of Ukraine, a strike on a Wildberries warehouse in Russia covering an area of 188,000 square meters has been confirmed. Earlier, OSINT monitoring channels reported fires at the company’s warehouses in Kotovsk, Tambov Oblast, and Elektrostal, Moscow Oblast, in the Russian Federation.
Previously, Wildberries removed the search option for military goods following a request from “Everything for the Special Military Operation.”
As a reminder, Ukrainian drones struck six Wildberries warehouses in Russia and Crimea.
Estonian intelligence estimated Russia’s losses from the strikes on Wildberries at $2 billion.
