Seizing the non-occupied part of Donetsk region is almost unrealistic for Russia — Armed Forces of Ukraine

Capturing the non-occupied part of Donetsk region by military means is an extremely difficult and almost unrealistic task for Russian forces.

This was stated in an interview with the BBC by Yevhen Lasiichuk, Commander of the 7th Rapid Response Corps of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

According to him, in order to assess the enemy’s capabilities, it is important to understand the actual volume of resources and the amount of manpower available to the Russian Federation.

Lasiichuk noted that the Russian army possesses firepower and certain technologies; however, the key factor behind its advances remains the mass use of personnel.

“The basis of their success is manpower, which they constantly throw into battle, using the so-called infiltration tactic,” the commander explained.

He stressed that further advancement using this approach requires an extremely large number of troops, which, in his assessment, the enemy currently does not have.

Russian information resources have published a photo of a Ukrainian serviceman showing his severed head. According to preliminary data, the identity of the soldier has been established, and the relevant information has already been passed to law enforcement agencies.

Earlier, the National Police of Ukraine, under the procedural supervision of the prosecutor’s office, identified five Russian servicemen involved in the shooting of civilians during the occupation of Bucha in 2022.
