Zelensky names monthly Russian losses
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, speaking before the Dutch parliament, stated that the Russian army loses about 30,000 soldiers killed on the front each month. He emphasized that such massive losses do not concern Putin, as he only believes in power and money.
The speech was broadcast on the official YouTube channel of the Office of the President.
According to Zelensky, some months saw 25,000 Russian soldiers killed, while in other periods the number reached 31,000 per month. The president clarified that he was referring specifically to fatalities, not wounded personnel, and that these figures are confirmed by numerous drone videos. He described Russian assaults as insanely bloody, but noted that the Russian leadership does not count human lives.
Zelensky pointed out that while the Russians ignore their own losses, they meticulously track every lost dollar or euro. In this context, he called on the Netherlands to support a strong decision to transfer frozen Russian assets to Ukraine. He stressed that these funds should be used to defend against Russian aggression, as financial losses are the most painful for the Kremlin.
Over the past 24 hours, as of December 16, 2025, Ukrainian Defense Forces have eliminated about 1,150 Russian soldiers, significantly increasing the overall losses of the Russian army on the front.
The Ukrainian Armed Forces received reinforcements and are holding back Russian assaults in the Pokrovske direction.
