The Ukrainian Armed Forces eliminated a decorated Russian powerlifter

The Ukrainian Defense Forces continue to inflict losses on the Russian army. This time, it was reported that the occupier Dmitry Zhukov had been killed; prior to the full-scale war, he was actively involved in powerlifting and held athletic titles. According to information from open sources, Zhukov was a candidate for the title of Master of Sports in powerlifting. He won numerous competitions and placed in regional and all-Russian events. After beginning his service in the Russian army, he found himself fighting in the war against Ukraine.

It is reported that the invader was killed on July 8, 2026. The Russian side has already confirmed his death. Zhukov’s funeral is scheduled for Monday, July 27. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, athletes, coaches, and representatives of various sports federations have increasingly been among the Russian military personnel killed in action. Some of them voluntarily signed contracts with the Russian army, while others were mobilized or were serving under contract.

Earlier, it was also reported that 46-year-old Russian occupier Georgy Kamalov had been killed. Before the war, he was known as a soccer player and coach. Kamalov played for the “Era” team from Vladivostok from 2003 to 2011, and after ending his playing career due to an injury, he transitioned to coaching. In recent years, he worked with the “Anri” soccer club. According to Russian sources, it was under his leadership that the team qualified for the Russian Cup. Kamalov later also went to war against Ukraine, where he was killed by Ukrainian forces.

Another occupier who was killed was Chingiz Dodiev, a native of Buryatia. Before serving in the Russian army, he had significant athletic achievements. Dodiev was a Master of Sports in hand-to-hand combat, a Candidate for Master of Sports in military hand-to-hand combat and Ukado/Kempo karate, and a second-dan black belt holder. Among his athletic titles are three-time champion of the Russian Cup in Ukado/Kempo, a two-time champion of the Russian Northwest in hand-to-hand combat among law enforcement agencies, as well as a medalist in combat sambo and military hand-to-hand combat competitions.

Ukrainian military forces regularly eliminate Russian army personnel participating in combat operations against Ukraine. Among the eliminated occupiers, there are increasingly more people who, before the war, were well-known in the sports, cultural, or civic spheres, but after joining the Russian forces, became part of the armed aggression against Ukraine. As a reminder, a Russian port on the Black Sea has halted oil loading operations.

Prior to this, Russia reported a drone attack on the night of July 25. In the city of Engels in the Saratov region, a fire broke out following reports of a drone threat; it likely originated near a military facility. Russian authorities have not officially reported on the cause of the fire or the possible consequences of the attack.
