Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully hold back Russian offensive — General Staff report
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Ukraine’s defence forces are successfully resisting the offensive of Russian occupying troops. As of 16:00 on 24 January, 61 combat engagements had been recorded.
Today, enemy fire targeted communities in the following settlements: Kliusy, Hremiach, Khrinivka, Karpovychi (Chernihiv region); Kucherivka, Ryzhivka, Rohizne, Iskryskivshchyna, Havrylova Sloboda, Zarichne, Budky, Sosnivka (Sumy region).
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk directions, the enemy carried out one air strike (dropping three guided bombs) and conducted 51 shelling attacks, two of which involved multiple launch rocket systems.
In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna direction, four combat engagements took place. The enemy attacked in the areas of Starytsia, Vovchanski Khutory, Kruhlyi and Chuhunivka. One engagement is ongoing.
In the Kupiansk direction, the enemy attempted to breach Ukrainian defences near Pishchane.
In the Lyman direction, six attacks were recorded in the areas of Drobysheve, Zarichne, Torske and towards Druzhliubivka. Two engagements are ongoing.
In the Sloviansk direction, Ukrainian defenders repelled an attack near Zvanivka; the fighting continues.
In the Kramatorsk direction, Ukrainian units repelled an assault in Orikhovo-Vasylivka.
In the Kostiantynivka direction, defenders stopped eight enemy attempts to penetrate the defence line near Kostiantynivka, Kleban-Byk, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Rusyn Yar, Sofiivka and towards Novopavlivka.
In the Pokrovsk direction, Russian forces carried out 27 attacks in the areas of Rodynske, Kotlyne, Udachne, Molodetske, Filiia and towards Dorozhnie, Shevchenko, Hryshyne and Ivanivka. Some engagements are still ongoing.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, Ukrainian troops repelled three enemy assault actions near Zelene Hai and Zlahoda.
In the Huliaipole direction, the aggressor attempted to advance 12 times towards Huliaipole, Myrne, Nove Zaporizhzhia, Dobropillia, Zelene, Varvarivka and Zaliznychne. Air strikes targeted Zirnytsia, Liubytske, Vozdvyzhivka, Zaliznychne and Verkhna Tersa.
In the Orikhiv direction, defenders repelled an attack near Plavni.
In the Dnipro River direction, the enemy made one unsuccessful attempt to improve its position near the Antonivskyi Bridge.
Capturing the non-occupied part of Donetsk region by military means remains an extremely difficult and almost unrealistic task for Russian forces.
Russian information resources have published a photo of a Ukrainian serviceman showing his severed head. According to preliminary data, the soldier’s identity has been established, and the relevant information has been passed to law enforcement agencies.
