The Ukrainian Armed Forces have destroyed new Russian electronic warfare systems designed to jam Starlink

Russian occupation forces have deployed new “Volna-Kupol-Garant” electronic warfare systems to disrupt the Starlink satellite communications system.

The new system is capable of tracking satellites as they pass overhead and emitting a powerful signal that disrupts terminal communications over an area of up to 20 square kilometers and creates a protective dome with a radius of 3–4 kilometers around critical facilities. This was announced by Sergei Beskrestnov, an advisor to the Minister of Defense, who goes by the call sign “Flash.”

The system, costing 150 million rubles, operates in the 14–14.5 GHz frequency band and blocks communications at distances of up to 16 kilometers; it requires only one operator capable of remote control. Despite its technical specifications, the system has significant drawbacks, as SpaceX instantly detects the interference, and the radio-reconnaissance satellites of partner countries detect its powerful radiation. This allows the Ukrainian Defense Forces to quickly locate and destroy these installations using drones; specifically, on June 15, the 422nd Unmanned Systems Regiment of the 17th Army Corps and the SBU’s Special Operations Center “A” successfully struck such a station in the southern sector.

This was reported by BBC News Ukraine.

Ukrainian Starlink terminals end up in enemy hands via complex routes.

Russia’s “shadow fleet” is using Starlink terminals to circumvent sanctions.
