Najaf Airport suspends all flights to and from Iran — Jerusalem Post

Najaf International Airport in Iraq has suspended all flights to and from Iran since Friday. The Jerusalem Post reported this, citing the state news agency.

Iranian flights to Baghdad

Earlier, Reuters, citing two sources, reported that Iraq had discussed the possibility of rerouting Iranian flights from Baghdad to Najaf. This came after Iraq’s civil aviation authority was ordered on Wednesday to suspend Iranian flights to Baghdad Airport.

According to Reuters, the decision regarding Baghdad was made after the United States threatened to impose sanctions on any airport serving Iranian air carriers.

Reports concerning Erbil and Sulaymaniyah

Separately, two Reuters sources said on Friday that Iraq would also suspend Iranian flights to the airports of Erbil and Sulaymaniyah in the country’s northeast. The source did not provide details regarding when these restrictions would take effect.
