The British broadcaster BBC has published an investigation into three former employees of illegal prisons in the occupied territories of Ukraine who are suspected of involvement in the torture of Ukrainian citizens. According to the journalists, they are currently in Russia following the alleged crimes.
The report focuses on Yuriy Temerbek, Ruslan Yeremichev, and Andriy Spivak. The first two, according to investigators, were formerly Ukrainian citizens but later obtained Russian passports.
Temerbek is linked to the operations of the illegal “Izolyatsia” prison in Donetsk. Former prisoner Lyudmila Khuseynova stated that she saw him there and claims he was involved in the events at the prison. Currently, according to journalists, he resides in the Rostov region of the Russian Federation.
Ruslan Yeremichev, who was allegedly called “Yermak” at “Izolyatsia,” is also accused by former prisoners of involvement in torture. Ukrainian law enforcement officials have charged him with a number of crimes, including the cruel treatment of prisoners and civilians.
The third suspect is Andriy Spivak, whom the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office links to the management of a secret prison in Kherson during the occupation. Currently, according to journalists, he is in Omsk and continues to live in Russia.
Ukrainian law enforcement agencies are investigating these allegations and have brought charges under articles related to war crimes and violations of the laws of war.
