Rawalpindi businesses seek protection during protests — Dawn
The association of restaurants, catering companies, confectioneries and bakeries in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, has called on the government and district administration to protect food businesses from unjustified closures, road blockades and restricted access to commercial areas during protests in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Rising costs
Association President Mohammad Farooq Chaudhry said that restaurants, bakeries, confectioneries and catering businesses are already facing significant financial pressure due to rising utility costs, inflation, higher prices for raw materials and labour expenses.
According to him, transport disruptions and restricted access to commercial areas further complicate the work of the industry, which depends on daily customer visits and daily operations. Chaudhry stressed that such disruptions directly affect not only business owners, but also cooks, waiters, drivers, couriers and daily wage workers.

Alternative routes
Association Chairman Mumtaz Ahmad and Chief Patron Chaudhry Mohammad Naeem said that the business community can no longer afford additional losses due to road blockades, access restrictions and disruptions to commercial activity.
Representatives of the association called on the administration to ensure effective traffic management and alternative routes for customers, employees and delivery services during protest-related restrictions. They also asked the authorities to consult business representatives and introduce measures that would allow public safety and order to be maintained without completely halting commercial activity.
