Ukrainian businessman Vadym Yermolayev and his partner suffered serious injuries as a result of a powerful explosion in Monaco. The woman lost both legs, and Yermolayev himself was hospitalized with burns and shrapnel wounds.
Vadym Yermolayev remained conscious after the explosion during his evacuation to a hospital in Nice.
Doctors diagnosed him with burns and injuries from shrapnel from the explosive device.
His partner sustained the most severe injuries. It is reported that as a result of the explosion, the woman suffered critical injuries to her lower limbs, forcing doctors to amputate both of her legs after she was urgently admitted to a hospital in Nice.
A third victim—a young man whose identity had not been established at the time of publication—was also taken to the hospital in Nice.
According to preliminary reports, he suffered burns and bruises, injuries from the blast wave, and a leg wound where a component of the explosive device likely became lodged.
In addition, rescue workers provided assistance to two other people who were near the site of the explosion and were in a state of severe shock.
Monaco’s law enforcement agencies are currently investigating the causes and circumstances of the incident. No official information regarding the nature of the explosive device or the possible motives behind the incident has been released yet.
