Cosmax partners in launch of Indonesia’s first cosmetology program

Cosmax has become an industry partner in the launch of Indonesia’s first bachelor’s program specializing in cosmetology. The program will be launched at the Faculty of Pharmacy of Padjadjaran University in West Java, Korea Herald reports.

Training specialists in cosmetics development

The program will cover the main stages of cosmetics research and development: studying skin and hair, creating formulations, and testing product effectiveness. Cosmax will participate as an industry partner to support the development of local research and development capabilities.

The company will also join the Academia-Business-Government program, a government initiative aimed at commercializing academic research. As part of the cooperation, Cosmax Indonesia and Padjadjaran University plan to expand joint research using Indonesia’s biological resources.

Research into local raw materials

Among the planned projects are the development of antioxidant ingredients from tempoyak, a traditional fermented durian product, as well as skin-brightening ingredients through the fermentation of angkak, a type of red yeast rice.

Cosmax will also support the creation of a training and production site at the university, where students will be able to gain practical experience. The company plans to organize year-round internships and hire local research and development specialists.

Cosmax Indonesia head Jeong Min-kyung said that the company intends to develop cooperation between industry and universities so that Indonesia’s natural resources become high-value ingredients recognized in global markets.
