Dawn urged the US and Iran not to delay talks on ending the war
Pakistani outlet Dawn, in an editorial, urged the United States and Iran to immediately seek a negotiated solution to end the hostilities rather than wait for the US midterm elections in November. The editorial board believes that interconnected conflicts in the Middle East have already spread across the region and require a peaceful settlement.
Trump's statement
According to Dawn, US President Donald Trump said during a speech in Ireland that the war with Iran would end very soon. He also suggested that the conflict could subside after the elections. The editorial board stressed that the situation could change significantly by November, since wars cannot be ended by a single decision.
The article notes that intermittent exchanges of strikes between the United States and Iran have taken place over recent days. In the editorial board's view, Washington should cease hostilities against Iran, while Tehran should respond with a similar step.

Conflicts in the region
Dawn also writes about the collapse of the Saudi-Houthi ceasefire in Yemen. According to the outlet's account, the Iran-linked group seized additional territory and targeted the Bab el-Mandeb Strait in order to obstruct the passage of Saudi vessels.
As stated in the editorial, Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline, an important alternative oil transportation route following the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, was struck, likely from Iraqi territory. Riyadh, according to Dawn, refrained from acting at the request of the Iraqi government but reserved the right to respond. No group had claimed responsibility for the attack at the time of publication.
The outlet also mentioned Israeli strikes in Lebanon and planned talks in Oman between Iran and the Persian Gulf states regarding the Strait of Hormuz. Dawn's editorial board called on the United States to end the blockade of Iranian ports as a step toward building confidence.
