Andrew Tate arrived in Russia and was welcomed as an honored guest
Andrew Tate arrived in Russia with his brother and received a rousing, almost festive welcome in Moscow, despite facing serious criminal charges in Europe. His arrival was accompanied by folk songs, dancing, and a traditional bread-and-salt ceremony, and the visit itself sparked a new wave of debate due to his reputation and allegations of human trafficking.
Controversial blogger Andrew Tate found himself back in the global media spotlight after flying to Russia with his brother Tristan and receiving a spectacular, almost theatrical welcome in Moscow complete with folk symbols and ceremonial elements.
At the airport, the brothers were greeted with bread and salt, songs, dances, and performances by folk groups, and Tate himself immediately posted a video on social media, adding the phrase: “Make new friends, but don’t lose the old ones.” It is worth noting that this visit is taking place against the backdrop of high-profile criminal cases pending against him in Romania, where Tate is accused of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and forming an organized criminal group.
His name has long been toxic on Western social media: in 2022, major platforms like Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok blocked his accounts due to misogynistic remarks and violations of their rules, although some of his accounts were later restored, particularly on Twitter following a change in ownership. Today, millions of people follow his page, and despite his legal troubles, he remains a public figure with a large audience.
Romanian law enforcement detained the Tate brothers in December 2022, and they were charged with a number of serious crimes, including the exploitation of women and participation in a criminal organization. Subsequently, restrictions on leaving Romania were lifted, and the brothers left the country, ending up in the U.S. and now in Russia, where their visit has already become a news story of international significance.
Separately, Western media note that the issue of their movements may have even been discussed by representatives of political circles in the U.S., which adds even greater political weight to the situation, given Tate’s public support for Donald Trump. This is reported by Russian media.
