Éric Zemmour to run for president of France — Anadolu Agency
In France, Éric Zemmour, the founder and leader of the far-right Reconquête party, said he will run in the 2027 presidential election. Anadolu Agency reports, citing his interview with BFMTV.
“I will be a candidate,” Zemmour said. He stated that he began his political struggle not for a career, but allegedly to save France from the “great replacement.” This is a conspiracy theory claiming that native European populations are supposedly being displaced by migrants from non-European countries.

Zemmour also called for rapid investment in humanoid robots so that they could replace migrants in caring for sick and elderly people. “Robots instead of immigrants,” he said, adding that he would prefer an elderly person to be cared for at home by a robot rather than a foreigner.

The politician advocated expelling from France all foreigners who remain unemployed for more than a year, even if they have lived in the country for 20 years. He also called migration an “invasion” which, he claimed, is turning into “colonization.”
Religious symbols
The Reconquête leader supported a ban on the Islamic headscarf and the Jewish kippah in public places. In his view, the principle of secularism requires “restraint” in such spaces. Zemmour also stated that a person with a Muslim name supposedly cannot be French, particularly if such a name is given after three generations.
Former journalist Zemmour first took part in the 2022 presidential election. He finished fourth in the first round, receiving 7.07% of the vote.
