The EU may approve new sanctions against Russia on July 13
The Council of the European Union plans to approve a new package of sanctions against Russia on July 13 in response to Russia’s massive attacks on Ukrainian territory.
According to sources interviewed by the publication, the additional restrictions are expected to be approved during the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on July 13.
These are the sanctions previously announced by the European Union’s top diplomat, Kaja Kallas. The initiative was a response to the latest wave of massive Russian strikes on Ukraine, particularly on Kyiv.
Proposals for new sanctions were submitted last Friday following another large-scale attack by Russia. According to sources, the restrictive measures have already received broad support among EU member states.
In addition, on Wednesday, the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the EU (Coreper) reviewed the proposed sanctions package and decided to refer it to the Working Party of International Relations Advisers (RELEX) for further consideration.
Once the preparatory process is complete, final approval of the new sanctions package against Russia is expected on July 13 at a meeting of the EU Foreign Affairs Council.
This was reported by “European Truth,” citing its own sources within EU institutions.
