EU discusses new sanctions against settlers — Anadolu Agency
In Strasbourg, France, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said that the European Union is discussing additional sanctions amid settlement expansion, forced displacement and settler violence in the West Bank. According to her, the level of such violence is at a record high. This was reported by Anadolu Agency.
Sanctions discussions
Speaking at a plenary session of the European Parliament, Kallas said that the EU already has three sanctions packages against extremist settlers. According to her, discussions are ongoing in the EU Council regarding possible new additions to the sanctions lists.
Kallas stressed that the European Union, together with international partners, including the United Kingdom, must continue to demand an end to settlement expansion. She separately mentioned the planned E1 settlement project in East Jerusalem, which, in her assessment, seriously threatens the viability of the two-state solution.

The situation in Gaza
Kallas also stated that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is deteriorating despite the ceasefire, which she described as existing only formally. According to her, people continue to be killed and injured, while overcrowded places where displaced people are staying may face risks of flooding and the spread of disease as winter approaches.
She called the upcoming elections in Israel and the Palestinian legislative elections potentially important turning points. The EU is ready to provide assistance, including during the Palestinian elections.
