Photo: Wreckage of a Geran-4 drone was found in Moldova

In the Briceni District of Moldova, debris from yet another drone marked “Geran-4” was discovered. The drone was found on the evening of September 24, according to the Moldovan police.

 

According to law enforcement officials, the drone exploded outside the residential area of the village of Kotyuzheni in the Briceni District at an altitude of 10 meters after colliding with trees. The blast damaged trees within a radius of about 25 meters.

Emergency responders found fragments of the fiberglass fuselage, electronic components, cables, and power supplies at the UAV’s crash site, wing parts marked “Geran-4,” and the propulsion system—a partially damaged turbojet engine.

All recovered parts of the aircraft were sent for forensic analysis. Moldovan police confirmed that no other dangerous devices or explosive materials were found at the scene of the incident.

A Moldovan border patrol discovered the wreckage of this drone on the evening of Thursday, September 24, approximately 1.7 kilometers from the state border. Earlier that same day, the country’s Ministry of Defense reported that four aerial objects had illegally crossed into Moldovan airspace a few hours earlier.

In total, since the beginning of 2022, the Moldovan Defense Ministry has recorded 81 cases of various aircraft illegally flying over Moldovan territory.
