Spain is preparing for a new wave of migrants storming the border
Spanish intelligence agencies are warning of a possible new attempt by migrants to enter the Spanish enclave of Ceuta en masse following calls to that effect on social media.
According to intelligence reports, messages are actively circulating on Facebook, WhatsApp, and TikTok calling on people to swim around the Tarajal breakwater on August 15 or earlier to reach Ceuta.
Spanish authorities say they are prepared for a possible escalation of the situation and are counting on cooperation from Moroccan law enforcement to prevent a repeat of previous mass crossings.
In late July, according to authorities, approximately 60,000 migrants from Morocco arrived in Ceuta within a short period of time. Although most have left the enclave, thousands of people remain there. According to official figures, at least 88 people died during that crisis.

The Spanish government has stated that it will take proportionate measures against travelers from Italy if Rome does not lift the controls it has imposed on people arriving from Spain by Sunday, August 9. The Italian government announced these measures amid a mass influx of people into the Spanish exclave of Ceuta, which borders Morocco.
Spanish intelligence agencies identified several individuals among the migrants who arrived en masse in Ceuta who had previously been implicated in cases related to jihadist terrorism.
